Frequently Asked Questions

Rates

  • How are the rates worked out? Is there a distance rate?

It is a flex structure that combines an hourly rate and a distance rate.
    - Hourly rate: charged by the hour. Trips under 6 hours are charged the minimum charge set for each vehicle grade. A max rate (a cap) is applied automatically according to the length of the booking, and beyond 72 hours the “each further day” rate is added for every additional 24 hours.
    - Distance rate: every trip is charged ¥25 per km driven. There is no limit on how far you drive.

Your share rate covers the car, basic coverage, and charging — both at the station's own charger and at Tesla Superchargers. Rates differ by station and by vehicle grade, so check the app or our rates page for current pricing.

  • Can you issue a receipt? Can I specify the name on it?

Yes. After you return the car, request one through the contact form. Tell us your booking number (or the date and time of your trip) and the name you would like the receipt made out to.

The receipt is issued after the final amount has been settled, reflecting extension charges, Charging Incentive Program discounts and the like, and is sent to you as an email attachment. If it's going to take longer, we'll let you know when it's ready.

  • How much is the cancellation fee for a booking?

The cancellation fee depends on when you cancel.
    - Within 12 hours of booking: free (up to one hour before your pickup time; after that a cancellation fee applies)
    - More than 12 hours after booking: 5% of the booking amount
    - From 6 hours before your pickup time: 100% of the booking amount (within 12 hours of booking it is free up to one hour before pickup)

The cancellation fee is charged automatically to your registered credit card, and if you have already paid we refund the amount less the cancellation fee. See our cancellation policy for the current terms.

  • How do refunds work after a cancellation, and when will I see the money?

Refunds are made through the credit card you paid with. If you cancel a booking that has already been paid for, we refund the amount less the cancellation fee.

Once we have processed the refund, how long it takes to appear on your card statement depends on your credit card company and may take up to about 30 days. If you cannot see it, please contact support. We can give you the Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) so your card company can trace the refund.

  • How do I use a coupon? Can it be applied later, after the booking is confirmed?

Apply your coupon while you're booking. Once a booking is confirmed, the system can't add one. If you forget to apply it, cancel the current booking and book again using the coupon (depending on when you cancel, a cancellation fee may apply).
    - Some coupons are limited to particular stations. Check which stations a coupon covers in its terms of use or on the campaign page.
    - A first-time-use coupon cannot be applied if you have used the service even once before. If you cancel a booking that had a coupon applied, you can use the same coupon again while it is still valid.
    - An error may appear if the coupon code is entered incorrectly (a code from a different campaign, for example), so please enter the code exactly.

Coupons are distributed from time to time on the official site, the official LINE account, social media (X and Instagram), in-app banners, and our members-only newsletter. Timing and eligibility vary, so watch those channels for the latest.

  • What payment methods are there? Can I use a debit card?

Credit card is the only payment method. Cards that do not support 3-D Secure (the cardholder authentication service), debit cards and prepaid cards cannot be used.

To change the credit card used for payment after a booking is confirmed, you need to cancel the booking and make it again.

  • When is my rental charged?

The full amount is charged to your registered credit card 12 hours after you book, or one hour before your pickup time.

Additional charges and discounts such as the distance rate, late-return charges and Charging Incentive Program are settled after you return the car: additional charges are billed automatically to your registered credit card, and discounts are processed as a partial refund of the share rate you have already paid.

  • What makes up the additional charges billed after return?

Charges after you return the car usually come from:
    - Distance rate: distance driven × ¥25/km (tax included)
    - Late-return charge: only when you go past your return time
    - Charging Incentive Program: a bonus (discount) or a penalty (extra charge) based on the battery levels at pickup and at return

On top of that, if an overstay fee (idle fee) is incurred at a Supercharger, it is billed once the return is complete. If the breakdown is unclear, or there is a charge you do not recognize, contact support and we'll give you an itemized breakdown for the booking — pickup and return times, distance driven, and every charge.

  • What are “Charging Incentive Program”? When do they become a discount or an extra charge?

Charging Incentive Program compares the battery level (%) when you pick the car up with the level (%) when you return it, then applies a discount or an extra charge.
    - Bonus (discount): returning with at least 10% more charge than at pickup ¥500 / at least 20% ¥600 / at least 30% ¥700; returning with a battery level of 80% or above ¥300; low-charge compensation where the level at pickup was 25% or below ¥1,000
    - Penalty (extra charge): returning with at least 30% less charge than at pickup ¥1,000; returning with a level of 25% or below ¥1,000; returning with a level of 15% or below ¥2,000

All bonuses and penalties are added together to give the final amount. During your trip you can check the current discount or extra charge from “Share Car” in the app.

  • What should I do if I am going to be late returning the car? How much are the extension and late-return charges?

If traffic or anything else is going to make you late, make sure you extend your trip in the app before your return time passes. Time added through the app is charged at the normal hourly rate, and the max rate (the cap) does not apply to it.

If you go past your return time without extending (an unauthorized extension), the extension is charged at twice the normal rate. Insurance does not apply during an unauthorized extension, and any damage in an accident is yours to pay in full. If an unauthorized extension makes the next rental impossible, an NOC of ¥30,000 also applies. Even where another booking meant you could not extend, going past your return time is charged at twice the normal rate as an overtime charge.

Note that a booking on the night pack cannot be extended. If you were charged a late-return fee even though you returned at your return time, please contact support.

  • What period am I charged for? Does returning earlier than planned cost less?

You are charged from your pickup time until the moment the return is completed. If you miss your return time and run late, the set late-return charge is calculated from the time you actually returned the car.

Even if you return before your scheduled return time, you are charged for the booked period.

  • What kind of plan is the night pack? Is there a cap for long bookings?

The night pack is applied automatically when the booked period, from pickup to return, falls inside 18:00–09:00 the next day, and charges a single flat rate for the time, which works out cheaper. The distance rate (¥25/km) applies separately. On the night pack the return time cannot be extended at all, and going past your return time incurs the unauthorized extension charge. You cannot switch between the hourly rate and the night pack, or combine them in one booking.

For longer bookings, a max rate (a cap) is applied automatically according to the length of the booking, and up to each cap charging is by the hour. Beyond 72 hours, the “each further day” rate is added for every additional 24 hours.

  • Is there a monthly fee or a joining fee?

No. There is no joining fee and no monthly charge at all, and you only pay when you drive. Simply registering as a member does not incur a charge, and nothing is billed or renewed automatically.

  • Is there a discount if I wash the car during my trip? What should I do if I could not upload the receipt?

If you wash the car during your trip, we apply a discount when you submit the car wash receipt. Please upload the receipt when you return the car.

If you could not upload it at return, email the receipt to support as an attachment. We will review it and apply the discount.

See the campaign page for the discount amount and the full conditions: https://boxiv.co.jp/share/cpn/washing (in Japanese)

  • Are expressway (ETC) tolls included in the share rate?

Tolls for expressways and other toll roads are not included in the share rate and are paid by you. Every car has an ETC transponder, but we don't supply an ETC card — bring your own and insert it (tolls go to that card).

If a toll is billed to us later because the ETC could not be read or for a similar reason, we bill you that amount plus a ¥500 payment handling fee. We'll tell you how and by when to pay.

  • If rates are revised, which rate applies to a booking made before the revision?

A new rate structure is applied on the basis of the date of booking. If your booking was completed before the date and time the revision took effect, the rate structure in force when you booked applies even if your trip falls after the revision, and we do not bill the difference later.

For example, when the distance rate was introduced on May 15, 2026, bookings completed by May 14 were not charged the distance rate even where pickup was on or after May 15.

  • Which bookings do discount campaigns such as the weekday discount apply to?

We're not running the weekday discount right now.

We do run discount campaigns on and off — check the app or our announcements for what's running and the conditions that apply.

Joining

  • How do I join (register as a member)?

BOXIV SHARE is car sharing that happens entirely in the app. Joining follows the steps below and is completed entirely online. There's no counter to visit and nothing to mail in.

    1. Download the app and register as a member (with SMS verification)
    2. Verify your driver's license and complete identity verification (eKYC) online
    3. Once the review is complete, you can book and pick up a car from the app

There is no joining fee and no monthly fee. The app is out on iOS and Android, and everything — registering, booking, pickup, return — works the same on both.

  • Can I register and complete identity verification with a Myna driver's license (a driver's license integrated into the My Number Card)?

Yes. Myna driver's license verification has already been released in the app, so please update to the latest version of the app before you start.

If a verification error blocks you from registering, send us the following through the contact form and we'll take it from there.
    - Your user ID in the app
    - An image of the front of your Myna driver's license
    - The “license data image” obtained with the National Police Agency's official app “マイナ免許証リーダー” (Myna Driver's License Reader, https://myna-menkyo-app.npa.go.jp/ (in Japanese))

    * We may ask you for further documents, such as an image of the front of your My Number Card, so that we can check the details. If an additional driver has only a Myna driver's license, we will handle that individually too.

  • How long does the identity check (driver's license) review take? I am worried it will not be done in time for my booking.

When the review is complete, your status in the app is updated and you can pick up a vehicle. You can check the progress of the review in the app. The review can be instant, but if the details need a closer look it takes two or three business days — three at the outside. So complete the license check (identity verification) well before your booking.

If the review is not complete by your pickup time, pickup of the vehicle is held until it is. If your pickup is coming up soon, message us through the contact form and we'll check where your review stands.

  • Identity verification (uploading the license, face recognition) gives an error and will not complete. What should I do?

If it still doesn't work after several tries, we'll handle it with you case by case. When you contact us through the contact form, please attach the following.
    - Images of the front and back of your driver's license
    - One supporting document (a utility bill receipt, a passport, or a health insurance card)
    - A screenshot of the whole error screen (several of them make the investigation quicker)

On iPhone, Lockdown Mode can also break the identity verification page. Turn it off, finish verification, then turn it back on.

  • The camera will not start during identity verification (eKYC), so I cannot photograph my license or my face.

In most cases the cause is the browser's camera permission setting.
    - On Safari for iPhone: review the setting by following the steps on the LIQUID eKYC support page (https://liquidinc.asia/liquid-ekyc/support/ios-safari-camera-not-working/ (in Japanese)), then open the identity verification link again and choose “Allow” in the dialog that appears.
    - On Chrome or another browser: allow that browser to use the camera from your device's settings app.

If that does not solve it, please contact us through the contact form.

  • I registered my license (identity verification), but no completion email has arrived. Did my registration go through?

We do not send a registration completion email. If the submission-complete screen appeared after you went through the license registration link, your registration completed normally. You can check the review status from there in the app.

  • What should I do if someone other than the person who booked wants to drive (registering an additional driver)? From when can they drive?

Additional drivers cannot be set up in the app at present, so please apply through the contact form (setting them in the app is planned for a future update). After you apply, we will guide you through the following two steps.

    1. Pay the additional driver registration fee of ¥550 per person through the payment link we send you
    2. The additional driver registers their own driver's license and completes identity verification through a dedicated license verification link (you can share the link with family or friends)

Only people who have completed the above by the date and time of the trip (the start of the booking) may drive. Once the steps are done, the registration takes effect straight away. No registration completion email is sent: it is done once the submission-complete screen appears. If an additional driver has only a Myna driver's license, please tell us that as well.

  • Can I join and use the service with a foreign (overseas) driver's license?

If you hold a foreign driver's license you can register, provided you meet all of the following conditions.

    1. You can provide an International Driving Permit (issued by a country party to the Geneva Convention), or a Japanese translation of your foreign license
    2. You can also provide your passport and your home country's driver's license
    3. It is within one year of your entry into Japan

If anything is unclear, please ask us through the contact form.

  • Are there age or driver's license conditions for joining? Can I join if I have held my license for less than a year?

The conditions for using the service are as follows.
    - You must be 20 or older to drive with BOXIV SHARE.
    - Drivers aged 20 or 21 must add the “Double Peace of Mind” option when booking.
    - Apart from the above, there is no restriction by age or by how long you have held your license (less than a year since obtaining it, for example).

  • Are there costs such as a joining fee or a monthly fee when I join?

There is no joining fee and no monthly fee. If you don't drive, you're not charged. When you do use it, you pay the share rate and any option charges you have chosen. If you register an additional driver, a registration fee of ¥550 per person applies separately.

    * The rate structure changed on May 15, 2026. Check the app or our rates page for current pricing.

  • Do I need a credit card to join?

Yes. All payment is cashless, and a registered credit card is required. Cards that do not support 3-D Secure, and debit cards and prepaid cards, cannot be used. The card you register must be in your own name. Corporate cards can be used.

  • Can a company join and use the service?

We set up corporate accounts case by case. Get in touch through the contact form and we'll walk you through the contract options and the paperwork you'll need.

  • Is a physical card, such as a membership card, issued?

No physical membership card is issued. With BOXIV SHARE, everything from registration to booking, pickup and return is completed in the app, and you can lock and unlock the vehicle from the app as well. Tesla owners can also use the phone key by linking the official Tesla app through the QR code that appears once the trip starts.

  • What should I do if my license expiry date is misread as “expired”, or I get an error even though I enter my license number correctly?

Please contact us through the contact form, attaching a screenshot of the whole error screen and images of the front and back of your driver's license. Support will check the details and handle your case individually.

Booking

  • How do I make a booking?

Bookings are made in the app. Choose the station, the dates and the vehicle you want, and the booking is completed with a cashless payment. Payment requires a credit card that supports 3-D Secure (debit cards and prepaid cards cannot be used). Once the booking is complete, a confirmation email with your reservation ID is sent automatically.

  • Can I change the details of a booking, such as the pickup or return time, after it is confirmed?

Pickup and return times cannot be changed once a booking is confirmed. If you want to change them, cancel the current booking in the app and book again with the details you want.
    - Canceling may incur a cancellation fee under the cancellation policy.
    - If you have already registered an additional driver, you do not need to apply again, but please send us the new reservation ID through the contact form once you have rebooked.
    - Some stations don't accept last-minute bookings, so you may not be able to rebook close to your pickup time.
    - For extending the return time once your trip has started, see “Can I extend the return time during my trip?” below.

  • Can I extend the return time during my trip?

If traffic or something similar means you want to extend your return time, you can do so from the app. A few things to know:
    - On a booking with the night pack, the return time cannot be extended at all.
    - The max rate (the cap) does not apply to extended time.
    - Going past your return time without extending from the app is an unauthorized extension: it is charged at twice the normal extension rate, and insurance does not apply to an accident during an unauthorized extension.

  • How do I cancel a booking? Is there a cancellation fee?

You can cancel a booking from the app. The cancellation fees are as follows, and they are charged automatically to your registered credit card.

A booking you cancel by mistake can't be restored — you'll need to book it again. A cancellation fee may apply in this case too, depending on when the cancellation happened.

Where a cancellation is unavoidable because of a natural disaster — a ferry or flight canceled by a typhoon, or our decision that pickup or return can't be done safely — we waive the cancellation fee. To request this, contact the support desk in the app by phone or through the message function.

  • If I cancel, when and how is the amount I paid refunded?

The balance after the cancellation fee is refunded to the credit card you used for the booking. Because the refund goes through your card company, it usually takes about 5-10 business days to appear on your statement, and with some card companies up to about 30 days. If it has not appeared after 30 days, please contact us through the contact form and check with your card company as well. We can also give you the Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) for checking the statement.

  • How far in advance can I book?

Bookings can generally be made from 180 days before the start of the trip. Some stations, however, accept bookings over a shorter window. Please check the dates you can actually book on each station's screen in the app.

  • Can I book on the day, or at short notice?

As long as a vehicle is free and the date and time can be selected in the app's booking calendar, you can book on the day or at short notice. Some stations need on-site staff, so they close bookings 72 hours (three days) before pickup. The app flags those stations — book early if you're using one.

  • Where can I check vehicle availability? Why are some dates not selectable in the booking calendar?

You can check vehicle availability in the booking calendar on each station's screen in the app. The vehicles kept at a station and its rates are on the station screen too. Dates and times that cannot be selected in the calendar cannot be booked. When every date is shown as unavailable over a long stretch, the main reasons are that a customer has the car on a long booking, or that the car is temporarily off the calendar for repairs. If you would like to be told when the vehicle you want becomes available, please ask us through the contact form (we handle this individually).

  • Where can I check whether my booking is complete?

When a booking is complete, a confirmation email with the reservation ID is sent automatically, and the booking appears in the Trips tab of the app. If it does not appear in the Trips tab, the booking is not complete, so please book again from the app. If payment has gone through but the booking still does not appear, please contact us through the contact form.

  • Are pickup times fixed? Can I book for a long trip or a long period?

Pickup times are not fixed: you can book the time you want. Both short and long trips are possible.
    - Trips under 6 hours are charged the minimum charge set for the grade.
    - Beyond 72 hours, the “each further day” rate is added for every additional 24 hours.
    - Booking for roughly a week to two months? Tell us the dates, the station and what you need the car for through the contact form. We will give you an individual quote (a long-term discount may apply).

  • What happens if I am told the vehicle I booked has damage from before pickup?

Where an accident on a previous trip or something similar has left cosmetic damage that does not affect driving, support contacts you with photos before pickup. You can then choose either of the following.
    - Take the car as it is — we'll offer a discount or something similar to make up for it.
    - Cancel: there is no cancellation fee, and anything you have paid is refunded in full.

  • What happens if the vehicle I booked becomes unavailable, for example through a breakdown?

If a breakdown or an accident means we can't hand over the car you booked, we'll email you.
    - Where we can provide a replacement vehicle (or another station), we propose the switch. A discount may be applied by way of apology when you switch.
    - Where a switch is difficult, or our proposal does not suit you, the booking is canceled free of charge: no cancellation fee applies, and anything you have paid is refunded in full.

If the email we send states a deadline, please reply by then with what you would like to do.

  • Can I pick up or return the car somewhere other than a station, such as an airport?

Outside the app's normal booking flow, we can sometimes arrange pickup and return away from a station — at an airport, for example. Please send us the dates, times and places you want for pickup and return (your itinerary) through the contact form. We prepare a quote individually, and the booking is confirmed once you have paid through the payment link we send you. For a handover at an airport, we will explain the details for the day individually, such as timing the handover to your flight's arrival. The quote also tells you where we can go, on what terms, and whether there's an extra charge.

  • What happens if I start my trip before the booked start time, or arrive late for it?

You can start the pickup process from 10 minutes before your pickup time (you cannot start the trip any earlier than that).

Even if you are late for your pickup time, you can start the pickup process at any time after it. Billing still starts at your booked start time, however, so you pay for the whole reservation, including the part you missed. And if you end up using the car for less time than you booked, you are still charged for the full booked period (the same applies if you return before your scheduled return time).

Using a car

  • How does the pick-up work on the day of the booking? How long does it take?

The whole pick-up is done in the app: there is no paperwork to sign with a staff member and no key to pick up. 10 minutes before your booking starts, a banner appears in the app and you can begin. If you have booked in advance and your driving license has been verified, the steps in the app take about 5 minutes, and you can drive away straight afterwards.

  • How do I return the car?

Bring the car back to its designated space at the station you picked it up from, then start “Return” in the app. Tapping “Return” shows the parking position and the instructions to follow; work through them and you are done. You are billed from your pick-up time until the moment the return is completed.

  • Can someone other than the person who booked (an additional driver, for example) do the pick-up and the return?

Because of how the system works, pick-up and return — including locking and unlocking — can only be done from the app of the person who made the booking. The return photos also have to be taken on that person's phone, so the person who booked needs to be present at both pick-up and return. If they cannot be there, please cancel the booking and book again in the name of whoever will be picking the car up (depending on when you cancel, the set cancellation fee may apply — please check the cancellation policy).

  • What should I do if traffic or charging means I will not make my return time? Can I extend?

If you are going to be late back, always extend in the app before your return time.
    - If you extend in the app: you can keep the car for longer (the max rate does not apply to the extra time).
    - On the night pack: the return time cannot be extended at all. If you pass your return time, the unauthorized extension charge applies.
    - An unauthorized extension: the extension is charged at twice the normal rate. Insurance does not apply to an accident during an unauthorized extension, and the damage is yours to pay in full. If an unauthorized extension means the next booking could not be handed over, an NOC of ¥30,000 also applies.
    - If another booking means you cannot extend: any time past your return time is billed at twice the normal rate.

  • Can I return the car earlier than booked? Does that make it cheaper?

You can return the car earlier than planned. Even if you bring it back before your scheduled return time, you are charged for the booked period: there is no reduction and no refund.

  • I left something in the car. What should I do?

Please contact us through the contact form with your booking details, what you left behind, and where you think it might be.
    - Normally, staff collect lost items from the car at its scheduled maintenance and send it back to you (if another booking is already in place, the car is checked after that booking is returned). Depending on the booking situation, collection at the station may also be possible.
    - Return shipping is ¥1,650 for an ETC card and ¥2,200 for a Takkyubin package (size 60). It has to be paid in advance by credit card, so we send you a payment link. We send the item once payment and a delivery address have been received.
    - If you would rather have cards or the like destroyed, staff will collect and dispose of them.
    - If you want staff sent out urgently rather than waiting for scheduled maintenance, you pay the actual dispatch cost plus a ¥30,000 NOC.
If you find something left behind by a previous user, please also contact support.

  • While I have the share car, can I leave my own car in the empty space at the station?

You generally cannot park your own car, motorcycle, bicycle or anything else in the station's space while you have the share car. Please arrange your own parking for the time you have the car. Even where we have allowed it as an exception, any accident or problem that happens in the lot is your responsibility.

  • What should I do if another car is in the designated space when I come to return the car?

Please do not force the car in or park it somewhere else without telling us. Send support a photo of the situation right away. We will check it and get back to you case by case.

  • Can I return the car to a station other than the one I picked it up from (one-way use)?

We do not offer one-way rentals — the car has to go back to its designated space at the station you picked it up from. If a car is deliberately abandoned or left at the wrong station, we charge the actual cost of repositioning it plus a ¥70,000 NOC.

  • Can I bring a pet along?

Pets are not allowed in the car as a rule. As an exception, a pet may travel with you if you take steps to keep the interior from being soiled — a pet carrier, a pet bag, a pet seat cover (a gear option). If pet hair or odor has to be cleaned out, we charge the actual cleaning cost plus a ¥30,000 NOC. Please help us keep the interior clean.

  • Can I smoke in the car?

Every car is non-smoking. That covers e-cigarettes and heated tobacco (IQOS, for example) as well as ordinary cigarettes. If smoking means the smell of tobacco has to be removed, we charge the actual cleaning cost plus a ¥30,000 NOC.

  • What should I do about trash and cleaning inside the car?

Please take your trash with you and leave the car clean for the next driver. If we have to clear out trash, clean up vomit, or dry out wet seats (riding in swimwear is not allowed), we charge the actual cleaning cost plus a ¥30,000 NOC. If there is trash or something left by a previous user in the car when your booking starts, please contact support.

  • Is there a discount if I wash the car during my booking? What should I do if I cannot upload the receipt?

If you wash the car during your booking, submitting the receipt gets you a discount. For the amount and the exact conditions, see the car wash campaign page (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/cpn/washing (in Japanese)). If you could not upload the receipt image in the app at return, send the image to support and we will review it and apply the discount as a refund.

  • What should I do if there is an accident, a breakdown or other trouble?

If there is an accident, first help anyone injured and make the scene safe, then report it to the police on the spot and call support. If you do not contact the police and us immediately at the time of the accident (that is, if there is no accident report), insurance and coverage do not apply.
    - Contact support for anything else too, such as a flat tire, a breakdown or a warning light in the car. Roadside assistance is included, covering recovery when a wheel goes off the road, towing, and temporary repair of a flat tire.
    - After an accident, even once coverage has been applied, an NOC of ¥30,000 applies if you can drive the car back, and an NOC of ¥70,000 if it cannot be driven. The NOC is waived with the Double Peace of Mind option (if the accident is not reported, the NOC is payable even if you have the option).

  • What should I do if I get a parking ticket during my booking?

If the car gets a parking ticket while you have it, you are responsible for taking care of it. Go to the police station listed on the ticket, pay the fine, and hand in the paperwork and the receipt when you return the car. If the violation has not been dealt with by the time you return the car, we charge a ¥30,000 parking violation penalty. In serious cases, membership may be revoked.

  • What should I do if I find scratches or damage on the car before I set off?

If you find existing damage when your booking starts, the app walks you through reporting and recording it before you begin your drive. Going through it before you set off keeps that damage separate from anything caused during your booking. If something does not fit — a piece of equipment that is not working, say — take a photo and contact support.

  • What should I do if the app will not let me complete the return?

If the photos or the upload at return will not complete because of an error or the like, leave the car parked in its designated space and contact support promptly. We will check the situation and talk you through the return. If a fault in the app or the system stopped you completing the return and you went past your return time, we will make sure you are not charged for the extension.

  • How do I drive a Tesla (one-pedal driving and Autopilot)?

Teslas use one-pedal driving: ease off the accelerator and regenerative braking slows the car, all the way to a stop. If you find that hard to drive with, you can turn it off from the vehicle settings screen. Autopilot (driver assistance) is engaged by pushing the stalk on the right of the steering wheel down twice quickly, and is canceled by pressing the brake or pushing the stalk up once (the controls may differ by model and year). For details, see Tesla's official owner's manual.

  • Is there anything I should be careful about while driving?

For a safe trip, please pay particular attention to the following.
    - Only the person who made the booking and registered additional drivers may drive. If anyone else drives, insurance and coverage do not apply in the event of an accident.
    - You can only drive on maintained roads — no beaches, riverbeds or forest tracks (insurance does not cover them).
    - Keep the battery above 10% at all times. Vehicle damage caused by running the battery flat is charged at the actual repair cost plus an NOC of ¥70,000.
    - Always lock the car when you leave it. Theft while parked unlocked is not covered.
    - Breaking the law by driving after drinking or while under the influence, and lending the car on to a third party, are strictly prohibited.

Charging

  • Who pays for charging during a booking? Are Supercharger costs included in the share rate?

Charging is unlimited while you have the car. Charging at a station's own charger and at Tesla Superchargers anywhere in Japan is included in the share rate. At a Supercharger there is nothing to set up — just plug in. Charging at public rapid chargers (CHAdeMO) and public standard chargers (J1772) is at your own expense.

  • Do I need to charge the car before returning it?

You do not have to return the car with any particular amount of charge — there is no minimum. What we do have is Charging Incentive Program: we take the battery level at pick-up (%) as the baseline, and where it lands at return earns you a bonus (a discount) or a penalty (an extra charge). Returning the car with more charge gets you a discount, while returning it with the level much lower, or low overall, incurs an extra charge. For details, see the Charging Incentive Program page on the official site.

  • Is there a penalty if the battery is low when I return the car?

Yes. A low-charge penalty of ¥1,000 applies if the battery is at 25% or below at return, and ¥2,000 if it is at 15% or below. A charge reduction fee of ¥1,000 applies if you return the car with the level 30% or more below what it was at pick-up. The level is judged on the value the system reads directly from the car. The level shown in the app can lag slightly, so the level shown in the car itself is what counts. Extra charges are billed automatically to the credit card you registered.

  • Is there a discount for returning the car with more charge? When and how is the discount applied?

Yes. The following bonuses (discounts) are available.
    - Charging bonus: returned with 10% or more charge than at pick-up ¥500 / 20% or more ¥600 / 30% or more ¥700
    - High-charge return bonus: returned with the battery at 80% or above ¥300
    - Low-charge compensation: the battery was at 25% or below at pick-up ¥1,000

Bonuses and penalties are all added together to decide the final amount, and the discount is applied as a partial refund of the share fee you have already paid. While you have the car, tapping “Share car” in the app shows the discount and extra charges as they stand.

  • Do stations have chargers? Do I need to plug the car in when I return it?

Whether a charger is installed varies from station to station, and most stations do not have one. At stations that do, charging is included in the share rate and costs nothing extra. At stations where the car has to be plugged in at return, instructions appear in the app during the return steps; just follow them.

There is no limit on the battery level at return, but if the level is low an extra charge may apply as a penalty. For details, see the charging policy (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/chargingpolicy (in Japanese)).

  • How much charge will the battery have at pick-up? Is there any compensation if it is low?

The battery level at pick-up varies each time, since it depends on how the customer before you returned the car. We cannot promise a level such as 80% or above at pick-up. You cannot specify a level when you book, and there is currently no feature for checking the car's level in the app before pick-up (this is planned for the future).

If the level at pick-up was 25% or below, Charging Incentive Program applies a ¥1,000 discount. On top of that, the program is set up so that returning the car with a higher battery level earns you an extra discount. For details, see the charging policy (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/chargingpolicy (in Japanese)).

  • Does the car carry charging cables and adapters? Can I rent a CHAdeMO adapter?

A J1772 adapter for standard charging (used at the standard chargers you find at hotels and shopping malls) is carried in the car as standard and is free to use. The adapter for charging a Tesla at a public rapid charger (CHAdeMO) is an option you can rent for ¥1,100 per 24 hours. To find out whether a particular station lends one, please ask through the contact form.

  • How do I use a public charger?

Public chargers generally require an authentication card, and BOXIV SHARE does not lend them out. Follow the instructions on the charger itself to authenticate as a guest and pay by credit card; the cost is on you. EVsmart is a handy way to find charging spots (search with the model set to “Tesla” and the charging type set to “CHAdeMO” or “charger with cable”). Do not use PowerX chargers (CHAdeMO) — they can damage the car, and if they do, you pay the repair cost.

  • Roughly how long does charging take?

Rough charging times from 20% to 80%:
    - Tesla Supercharger: about 30 minutes
    - Rapid charger (CHAdeMO): about 1 hour
    - Standard charger: about 6 hours

It may take more or less time depending on the state of the car and the output of the charger.

  • Is it a problem to leave the car parked at a Supercharger once charging has finished?

At a Supercharger, leaving the car for 5 minutes or more after charging has finished may incur the idle fee set by Tesla Japan G.K., which is yours to pay. It is billed after your return is complete. Please move the car promptly once charging is finished.

  • What should I do if the battery is low and I cannot reach a nearby Supercharger?

Please keep the battery above 10% at all times while you have the car. If reaching a Supercharger is difficult, use a closer public charger — a rapid charger (CHAdeMO) or a standard charger (J1772) — instead (the cost is yours; CHAdeMO requires the adapter). You can find charging spots on EVsmart. If you run the battery flat and damage the car, you pay the repair cost plus a ¥70,000 NOC, and insurance does not cover damage from a completely flat battery. Keep a close eye on the level.

  • Why does the battery level sometimes drop while the car is parked? What should I do if a warning is showing in the car?

An electric car uses power even while parked, and the battery level can fall. The main causes are Sentry Mode (security monitoring), climate control inside the car, and the car's standby power. Settings that leave Sentry Mode or the accessory power on are particularly heavy on the battery.

That said, Sentry Mode doubles as a dashcam in case of a hit-and-run or the like, so we generally recommend leaving it on. Please keep the battery above 10% at all times while you have the car. If a warning is showing in the car, contact us through the contact form.

  • What should I do if the station's charging plug does not fit the car, or will not charge, at return?

Even if the station's charger will not connect or will not start charging, you can go ahead with the return as long as the car is parked in its designated space (the return can be completed without the charging plug connected). If you get stuck, please call support. We will check what is going on and walk you through it.

Coverage and incidents

  • What should I do if I have an accident during my trip (or hit something with the car)?

First, attend to anyone who is injured and make the scene safe. Then, however minor the damage, call the police and have them handle the accident. If you do not, it can legally be treated as a hit-and-run, and without a police accident report we cannot apply insurance or coverage. Then call BOXIV Emergency Support (you can find the phone number on My Page in the app) and tell them where the accident happened (the address), when it happened, and what led up to it. Support will guide you through everything after that.

  • If I have an accident or damage the car, how much do I have to pay?

It depends on the coverage you have.
    - Basic coverage only: you pay the deductible on vehicle damage and on property damage (up to ¥200,000 each) plus the NOC. Where insurance and coverage apply, even if the actual repair cost comes to more than that, what you pay is capped at the deductible plus the NOC.
    - With the Peace of Mind option: the deductible is waived. The NOC still applies.
    - With the Double Peace of Mind option: the NOC is waived as well as the deductible (on condition that you report the accident to us at the time).
Once the repair cost is settled we will send you an invoice; please pay it by bank transfer by the due date shown.

  • What should I do if I find damage I do not remember causing?

Whether it is at pickup, during your trip or at return, report it as soon as you notice it, with a photo showing where the damage is (at return you can use the “Upload photos of the damage” field on the return screen). We compare it with the return photos and other records from the previous driver, and if we can confirm the damage was not caused by you, you are not charged. The same goes if you missed existing damage during the pre-trip check and drove off — report it as soon as you spot it.

  • Can I add or change the Peace of Mind or Double Peace of Mind option after booking?

The Peace of Mind and Double Peace of Mind options can only be chosen when you book. They cannot be added or changed once the booking is complete. If you want to change the option, please cancel the current booking and book again with the option you want (depending on when you cancel, the standard cancellation fee may apply).

  • What does the insurance and coverage include?

The basic coverage included in the share rate is as follows.
    - Bodily injury liability: unlimited per person (includes Japan's compulsory automobile liability insurance)
    - Property damage: unlimited per accident (¥200,000 deductible)
    - Vehicle damage: market value per accident (¥200,000 deductible)
    - Personal injury protection: ¥30,000,000 per person (occupants only)
Damage that does not come from an accident — repairing a flat tire, a rock chip — is not part of the basic coverage. See the coverage page (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/compensation (in Japanese)) for details.

  • How much are the Peace of Mind and Double Peace of Mind options, and what do they cover?

    - Peace of Mind option (deductible waiver): ¥3,300 per 24 hours. It waives the deductible you would otherwise pay on vehicle damage and property damage (¥200,000 each).
    - Double Peace of Mind option (deductible waiver & NOC waiver): ¥4,400 per 24 hours. On top of the deductible waiver, it waives the NOC, the cost of repairing a flat tire and the cost of the tire itself if it has to be replaced (labor included), and damage from accidents on the road such as a rock chip.
Note: this applies to one accident per trip. If you do not report an accident at the time, the NOC is payable even with the Double Peace of Mind option. If you use the repair kit carried in the car to patch a flat tire, you pay for the kit.

  • Is there an insurance premium on top of the rental charge?

No. Basic coverage is included in the share rate, and we do not charge a separate insurance premium. A charge only arises if you take an option: the “Peace of Mind option” if you want the deductible waived, or the “Double Peace of Mind option”, which also covers the NOC waiver and more.

  • What is the NOC (Non-Operation Charge), and how much is it?

It covers the revenue we lose while a car is out of service after an accident, heavy soiling or similar damage. You pay it on top of the actual costs, such as the repair. The main amounts are as follows.
    - Accident (car still drivable, returned to the station): ¥30,000 / Accident (car not drivable, not returned to the station): ¥70,000
    - Damage (a flat tire, damage to the interior, etc.), loss, soiling: ¥30,000
    - Vehicle failure caused by running the battery flat, deliberately abandoning the car: ¥70,000
Even for minor damage that does not affect driving, the NOC applies if the repair means the car cannot be rented out for a period. With the Double Peace of Mind option the NOC is waived (on condition that you report the accident at the time). See the NOC page (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/noc (in Japanese)) for details.

  • Is accidental damage while driving, such as a rock chip or a flat tire, covered?

Damage that is not from an accident — a rock chip, a flat tire — is not part of the basic coverage: you pay the actual repair cost and the NOC. With the Double Peace of Mind option, the cost of repairing a flat tire, the cost of a replacement tire (labor included) and damage from things like rock chips are waived. As soon as you notice the damage, contact us through the contact form with a photo showing the situation. If you have a flat, roadside assistance can also come out and put on the spare tire.

  • In what cases does the insurance and coverage not apply?

Insurance and coverage generally do not apply in the cases below, and you are responsible for the loss.
    - Not contacting the police and us immediately at the time of an accident (no police accident report)
    - Driving by anyone other than the person who booked or a registered additional driver, lending the car on to someone else, driving without a license
    - Breaking the law, such as driving after drinking
    - An accident while the rental period has been exceeded (including an unauthorized extension), reporting an accident after the car has been returned, a false report, settling with the other party without our consent
    - Use in tests or competition, towing another vehicle
    - Theft while parked unlocked, damage caused by abusive use, vehicle failure from running the battery completely flat
    - Driving anywhere other than a maintained road (a beach, a riverbed, forest tracks and so on), and any other breach of the Rental Agreement
See the coverage page (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/compensation (in Japanese)) for details.

  • Is roadside assistance included?

Yes, roadside assistance is included. It covers emergency repairs and light work that can be completed at the scene within 30 minutes:
    - Pulling the car back onto the road if a wheel drops off the shoulder
    - Towing (to a designated location after a breakdown or a dead battery)
    - Emergency work on a flat tire (putting on the spare tire)
If you run into trouble, contact us through the contact form.

  • Does the insurance and coverage still apply if an additional driver was driving?

An accident while a registered additional driver is at the wheel is covered. An accident caused by anyone other than you or a registered additional driver is not covered, so register any additional driver in advance if someone else will be driving. The additional driver does not currently need a BOXIV app account of their own in order to be registered. Apply through the form (https://boxiv.co.jp/share/additional-driver (in Japanese)), and the driver becomes covered once they complete license verification (identity verification) through the dedicated link we send.

  • How do I pay repair costs and the NOC? Can I ask about paying in installments?

Once the repair cost is finalized we will send you an invoice; please pay it by bank transfer by the due date shown.

The app

  • I received the email saying license verification (identity verification) is complete, but the app says “identity verification is not complete” or “you need to apply again”. What should I do?

    Try the following, in order.
    - Close the app completely (force quit) and start it again. That may pull in the latest status.
    - If you changed your registered details after your license was verified, verification has to be done again — that is how the app works.
    - If none of that resolves it, it may be a display problem caused by an internal error in the app. Contact us through the contact form and we will check the status of the review and let you know. In some cases the review was already complete and only the display was off — so if you got the completion email, you're almost certainly fine.

  • Is there an Android app? Can I sign up, book and drive with an Android phone?

The Android app has been released. You can sign up, book, pick up and return entirely on an Android device. It has the same features as the iOS (iPhone) version.

  • What should I do if the app shows an error, runs slowly, or will not let me book?

First close the app completely (force quit) and start it again; if that does not help, try reinstalling it. If it is still not resolved, contact us through the contact form with a screenshot of the screen where the problem happens. The team responsible will investigate and we will get back to you as soon as we know more.

  • What can I do in the BOXIV app?

You do everything in the app — sign up, book, pick up on the day, return — without ever meeting anyone in person. License verification is done online too, and all payment is cashless. You can also control the car remotely:
    - Lock / Unlock (remote key control)
    - Climate (pre-condition the cabin before you get in)
    - Send to car (send a destination to the car's navigation)

Note: check-in (a perk for visiting a shop or venue) is planned for a future update.

  • Can an additional driver use the vehicle controls, such as remote climate, from their app?

Remote climate and the other vehicle controls are available in the BOXIV app, but an additional driver cannot operate the car from the app. Vehicle controls can only be operated from the booker's own app.

  • Can I control the car from the official Tesla app as well as the BOXIV app?

Yes, you can. When your trip starts, a QR code appears on the car's display, and scanning it links the shared car to the official Tesla app. If you're a Tesla owner, linking also lets you lock and unlock with your phone key, sync your seat position, and sign in automatically to music streaming services.

  • What should I do if the QR code for linking the official Tesla app does not appear on the car's display?

The QR code appears on the car's display once you've finished pickup and your trip has started. If it doesn't show up, contact support and we'll take a look and follow up with you directly.

  • I changed phones and now I cannot log in — it says something like “this account is already registered”. What should I do?

After you switch phones, don't sign up again — log in with the same Apple ID or phone number you used before and your account carries over. “This account is already registered” means the account already exists, so try logging in rather than signing up. If the steps are unclear or it is still not resolved, contact us through the contact form with a screenshot of the screen. We will check your registration and advise you.

  • The login email address shown in the app looks different from the one I registered. Is something wrong?

If you log in through Apple ID, the email address shown may differ from the one you registered — that is how the sign-in works. This is not a system error, and your account registered fine, so you can keep using the app as normal. If you would like us to check, contact us through the contact form with a screenshot of the screen and your BOXIV ID.

  • What should I do if the app will not move on, shows an error, or the camera does not work during pickup or return?

Close the app completely (force quit), start it again and try the steps once more. If the camera does not open or does not work properly for the photos at return, first check in your phone's settings that camera access is allowed (on) for the BOXIV app, then restart the app and try again. If that still does not help, leave the car parked in its assigned space and contact us as soon as you can through the contact form, with a screenshot showing what is happening. We will check and guide you through the return.

  • The payment went through, but my booking does not appear in the app. What should I do?

Close the app completely, start it again and see whether the booking list refreshes. If the booking still does not appear, contact us through the contact form. We will check the status of the booking and the payment and advise you.

  • What should I do if I forget my app login password?

You log in to the BOXIV app only through social sign-in — Apple ID or your phone number. There's no password to set, so there's nothing to reset. Log in with the Apple ID or the phone number you used when you registered. If you cannot log in, contact us through the contact form.

  • Can I see my trip history and issue a receipt in the app?

You can see your trip history and the breakdown of charges in the app.

You can't issue a receipt yourself from the app. Once the car has been returned, request one through the contact form (support), giving your booking number (or the date and time of your trip) and the name you want the receipt made out to. We issue it once the final amount has been settled and send it as an email attachment.

Add-ons and other services

  • Does the car have an ETC unit? Do I need my own ETC card?

Every vehicle has an ETC unit. The card slot is in the footwell on the passenger side. No ETC card is kept in the car, so please bring your own when you need one.

  • Do you rent out ETC cards?

We do not lend ETC cards at present. Every vehicle has an ETC unit, so when you use a toll road, please bring your own ETC card and insert it in the unit.

  • I returned the car and left my ETC card inside. What should I do?

Please contact us through the contact form as soon as you notice. If the car is already out with the next customer, we cannot check it until it comes back, so this may take some time. Depending on the situation, we will suggest one of the following ways to get the card back.
    - You collect it yourself at the station (a staff member unlocks the car remotely for you)
    - A staff member collects it and we mail it back (return shipping is at your expense — ¥1,650 for an ETC card. It has to be prepaid by credit card, so we'll send you a payment link)
We can also dispose of the card if you prefer. Normally, a staff member retrieves the card from the car on a later visit and we send it back to you. If a staff member has to be dispatched urgently rather than waiting for the car to be returned, the actual cost (staff dispatch fee) applies plus an NOC of ¥30,000.

  • What should I do if the ETC unit or other in-car equipment is faulty? Is there any compensation if I paid a higher toll than normal?

If you find in-car equipment faulty or damaged, contact us through the contact form and send a photo of the problem. Once the car is back, a staff member checks the equipment and we deal with each case individually. If a problem with the ETC unit meant you paid a higher toll than normal, send us the toll receipt and we'll follow up with you about refunding the difference from the normal toll.

  • Can you tell me the ETC unit management number I need to register for the ETC usage inquiry service?

We handle inquiries about the ETC unit management number individually. Please contact us through the contact form.

  • Do you lend child seats or booster seats?

Child seats are available as an equipment add-on, at ¥500 per rental. They are stocked only on some vehicles at some stations and in limited numbers, so we cannot lend more than one. To see whether the car you plan to book has one, check the add-ons shown on the booking screen in the app. If none are shown, ask us through the contact form. We do not lend booster seats.

  • Can I bring my own child seat?

You are free to bring your own child seat. Please fit and remove it yourself. Be sure not to leave it behind when you return the car (shipping a forgotten item back to you may cost extra).

  • Are charging adapters kept in the car?

The J1772 adapter, for public AC chargers (J1772 standard), is standard equipment in the car and free to use. The CHAdeMO adapter, for public DC fast chargers (CHAdeMO standard), is an add-on (¥1,100 per 24 hours) and is not lent at every station, so please check with us through the contact form. Charging costs at public chargers are at your expense. If you cannot find an adapter in the car, please also let us know through the contact form. If an adapter is taken from the car or goes missing, you're charged the actual cost plus a ¥30,000 NOC, so always put it back in the car before you return it. The AC charging cable (mobile connector) is not kept in the car.

  • The add-on I want is not shown on the booking screen in the app. Can I still use it? Can I add an add-on after booking?

Add-on availability varies by station and vehicle, so some won't appear on the booking screen. If you want an add-on that is not shown, ask us through the contact form. Add-ons are normally chosen when you book and can't be added once a booking is confirmed. To add one, please cancel the current booking and book again with the add-on you want selected.

  • Do you rent gear such as camp chairs or a mattress for sleeping in the car?

Some stations carry equipment add-ons such as camp chairs. What is stocked differs by station and by vehicle, so check the booking screen in the app, and if it is not shown, ask us through the contact form. A mattress for sleeping in the car is also available, free of charge.

  • I would like to bring a pet. Is there an add-on for that?

We don't normally allow pets, but you can bring one as long as you use a pet seat cover. Please also protect the seats with a pet carrier or pet bag (store-bought is fine). If a pet travels without those measures and hair or odor has to be removed, we charge the actual cost plus an NOC of ¥30,000.

  • What should I do if I get a flat tire? Can I use the tire repair kit carried in the car?

If you get a flat tire, contact support through the contact form first. Roadside assistance for a flat (putting on the spare) is included. If you make a temporary repair with the tire repair kit carried in the car, the cost of the kit is yours to pay — this is the case with the Double Peace of Mind option too. Flat-tire repair costs are outside the basic coverage: the actual cost applies plus an NOC of ¥30,000. With the Double Peace of Mind option (¥4,400 per 24 hours), the repair cost, the tire itself (including labor) and the NOC are waived. The Peace of Mind and Double Peace of Mind options apply to one accident per trip.

  • Is the authentication card (charging card) for public chargers kept in the car?

We do not lend the authentication cards needed at public chargers. Use each charger as a guest, following the instructions given on it, and pay by credit card (charging costs at public chargers are at your expense). Some vehicles do carry a parking card, a charging card or similar; if one is lost, we charge the actual cost plus an NOC of ¥30,000. Always put it back in the car before you return it.

  • Do the cars have winter tires in winter? Do I need snow chains?

We generally put winter (studless) tires only on cars at stations in snowy regions. If you want to check in advance whether the car you plan to book has them, ask us through the contact form. Please do not use your own snow chains. If you take a car without winter equipment into a snowy area and leave it somewhere other than the station because you cannot return it, this is treated as deliberately returning to the wrong place: the actual cost applies plus an NOC of ¥70,000. Before driving in an area where snow is expected, check the car's equipment with us through the contact form.

Changing your details and closing your account

  • How do I change the phone number or email address registered on my account?

To change a phone number, including the number used for verification, send the request through the contact form. To confirm your identity we check the new phone number and the email address you log in with; support then makes the change and contacts you once it is done.

Email addresses cannot be changed at the moment (we plan to make that possible in a future update).

  • How do I close my account, or delete it along with the personal information I registered?

To close your account (delete it), please do so in the app.
    ①Open the BOXIV SHARE app
    ②Tap “My Page”
    ③Tap “User registration details”
④Tap “Delete account” at the bottom to delete the account and close your membership
There's no signup fee and no monthly charge, so you pay nothing for periods when you don't use the service.

  • What happens to my registered personal information after I close my account?

If you request it when you close your account, we'll delete your personal information, including your driver's license details, and let you know once it's done. For details of how personal information is handled — how long it is held before disposal, and which information is kept for a set period under the law — see the Privacy Policy (https://boxiv.co.jp/privacy (in Japanese)).

  • I have renewed my driver's license. Do I need to register the license details again, and how?

Once your registered license expires, you have to register it again. To re-register after a renewal, contact support through the contact form and follow the instructions we send you.

  • Where can I check or change the credit card registered for payment?

You can check and change the registered credit card in the app. Only credit cards that support 3-D Secure can be used. Cards without 3-D Secure, debit cards and prepaid cards cannot be registered.

  • What should I do if my name or address changes?

Please change your name and your address in the app. Note that after a change of name or address, your identity has to be verified again with your driver's license.

  • Can I move my account to another device, for example when I change phones?

After changing phones, log in on the new device with the same Apple ID or the same mobile phone number as before, and your account carries over — there is no need to register again. If the steps are unclear or the transfer does not work, contact us through the contact form. If your phone number is changing along with the device, please request the number change through the contact form beforehand. To confirm your identity we check the new phone number and the email address you log in with.

  • If I am not going to use the service for a while, do I need to suspend my membership, and does it cost anything?

BOXIV SHARE has no signup fee and no monthly charge, so you pay nothing at all for periods when you don't use it. There is therefore no suspension procedure to go through, and you can simply keep your account. If you do want to close it, follow the steps under “How do I close my account, or delete it along with the personal information I registered?” and close it from the app.

  • How do I get back something I left in the car?

If you leave something in the car or at a station, contact us through the contact form with the date and time of your booking, the station and what you left behind. We hold anything we find and mail it back once you've covered shipping and any other actual costs (we can send it express if you're in a hurry). We can't hand items over in person — there's no space for that where we store them. If we have to send a staff member out to retrieve the item, you're charged the actual cost (staff dispatch fee) plus a ¥30,000 NOC. We can't always search right away — it depends on the dispatch schedule — and a search doesn't always turn the item up.

  • Who should I contact if something goes wrong during a trip — an accident, a breakdown, a flat tire, a warning light?

If you're in an accident, get yourself safe, then call the police and contact us right away. If you don't contact us at the time of the accident — meaning there's no police report — insurance and coverage won't apply. If you notice a breakdown, a flat tire, a warning light, an unusual noise or anything else wrong, do not keep driving — contact us. Roadside assistance is included in the share rate, covering emergency repairs and light work that can be completed on the spot within 30 minutes (pulling a car back onto the road after a wheel drops off the shoulder, towing, and temporary flat-tire repair).

Our support desk is staffed 24 hours a day. You can reach it from Support in the app, by phone or by message, so use that in an emergency.

  • Where can I find out where new stations are planned and when they open?

Stations are being added across Japan. The current list of stations is available in the app and on the official site. We announce new station openings on our social media and in the app's notifications, so check there too.

  • There is no station near me. Can I request that a new station be opened?

We take requests for new stations through the contact form. Please feel free to send yours in. We use the requests we get to help decide where to open next, though a request isn't a guarantee that a station will open there.

  • Can I get a written quote in advance for corporate use or a long booking, such as a courtesy car?

Corporate use and long bookings — use as a courtesy car, for example — are handled individually. Get in touch through the contact form with the period, the model and the station you have in mind. Once we've reviewed it, we'll go over the type of contract, the payment method and anything else you need, and put together a quote. If the car is being used as a courtesy car, we can also check the scope of the rider with your insurer.
